Call for Applications: Allan Gray Makers StartUp Academy 2026
Applications are now open for the Allan Gray Makers StartUp Academy 2026, an 8-month entrepreneurship incubation programme designed to support aspiring artisan entrepreneurs. The academy focuses on helping individuals build successful businesses in the fields of bricklaying, carpentry, electrical work, and plumbing. The programme begins in mid-April 2026 and runs for 8 months.
Participants will gain access to practical entrepreneurial training, business development support, and mentorship aimed at helping them launch and sustain profitable ventures in their respective trades.
Program Benefits
- A monthly transport allowance of R3,000.
- Comprehensive entrepreneurship and business skills training.
- Mentorship and ongoing support to establish and grow a business.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be 18–35 years old.
- Must have experience in Bricklaying, Carpentry, Electrical, or Plumbing.
- Must be unemployed or self-employed (and not studying full-time).
- Applicants must meet one of the following:
- Be a qualified artisan with a trade test, OR
- Have at least 3 years of experience in the relevant trade and be ready for a trade test, OR
- Have an N2 Certificate plus 3 years relevant work experience.
Required Documents
- N2 Certificate, National Technical Diploma, or Trade Test (where applicable)
- Proof of work experience or service letters
- National Senior Certificate (advantageous)
- Certified copy of ID
